The links above will bring you to a Myspace profile and a youtube video of my old band, Memories in Play. These two forms of new media have allowed my band to publicize our music and reach out to our audience using methods that were not available in the past. Without the use of internet new media it would be very difficult for the band to attract fans, communicate directly to fans, and distribute music to our audience. Myspace and Youtube both have allowed the band to not only provide our audience with music, but provide them with videos and pictures as well. Posts on the band's Myspace profile and Youtube video pages serve as a means of communicating and reaching out to the audience. These technologies have also allowed us to provide the fans with news of upcoming shows and events. These websites display the number of how many visitors, views, and song plays that occur over time. This was beneficial to the band because this gave us some insight about the growth of the band fan base. All in all, new media greatly benefitted the band.

Myspace and Youtube are great media tools used to bring fans in. I found lots of underrated talent using these two sites and if it wasnt for them i would not have discovered them. Media is very important in terms of building fan bases because you have to stay in contact with people to keep them updated and these media outlets make that process much easier. Glad your band got some shine using these tools :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your music with us, Michael! Which part do you play in the band? You guys sound great. I especially like the really candid video you did (Studio One) as I enjoy the "reality tv" part of watching things and seeing how people really interact with each other.
